Encuentro de jóvenes investigadores suizos

On October 10 and 11, 2024 we held the III Encuentro de jóvenes investigadores del hispanismo suizo at the University of Basel. It was a great pleasure to welcome about 40 Hispanists from all over Switzerland, from Master’s students to professors, both in linguistics and literature. For two days, we were able to attend presentations on ongoing projects, especially Master's theses and doctoral dissertations.

Representing linguistics in Basel, three presentations were given: Livio Bonaduce on the emergence of a pluricentric variety of Spanish in the Swiss migratory context, Miriam Castro Rodríguez on the linguistic landscape of Galicia, and Arnaldo Meza on a recently initiated study aimed at investigating identity aspects among transsexual Colombian people. Congratulations to all three!

The general theme of this conference was “Entre lo social y lo digital” (“Between the social and the digital”). Three plenary lectures and two roundtables approached this topic from different perspectives. I had the pleasure of participating in a roundtable on the publishing market, coordinated by Cristina Rosario Martínez Torres, in which Cristina Mondragón Santoyo and Belinda Palacios also participated. It was a pleasure to talk briefly about my experience in relation to the publication of linguistic data in Open Access.
